Duterte Might Resolve the Slow Internet Connection Issue!
Our country was dominated by two huge telecommunication companies - Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company(PLDT) and Globe Telecom in terms of internet services.Consumers complain about unsatisfying service and performance against these internet companies. They are using the very slow internet connection that is not appropriate for the speed that they've paid for.
The internet metric provider Ookla found the Philippines average speed is just 3.64 megabits per second (Mbps) and we ranked 176th out of 202 countries worldwide.Among 22 countries from Asia, this average speed brings our country to 21st spot. Well, second to the last indeed.According to Forbes Asia, the Philippines got the worst internet service in the continent , it is when a tourist complains about the slow internet connection in the lobby of hotel where he stayed.
What's the plan of Duterte's administration to resolve this issue? During CNN Philipines' "Town Hall" held in University of the Philippines Diliman last February 18, 2016 (campaign days of Duterte before he won the presidency) former Davao Mayor said he would personaly talk to the telecommunication companies about the poor internet service they are providing.
"Ano bang problema niyo? Why can't you make it faster?" he said. "Ano ba ang diperensya?" Then they would talk for hours to justify the inexcusable poor service. Duterte also mentioned under his administration he would order the telecommunication company to upgrade their internet services if they do not want repercussions. He also said he could invite foreign investors to enter the market to rpovide more options for user."Otherwise papasukin ko lahat. Ayaw niyong mag-improve, I will invite the world including China to go in," he said. "Mamili kung sino ang pinakamabilis." Most internet consumers hope that Pres. Duterte will end the long time agonizing internet services in our country.
