Pacquiao Defended Duterte In U.S After Obama Bust-up
Filipinos were proud after the Asian strongman - President Duterte accepted the country's chairmanship of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) for the year 2017.
In same event US leader Obama and President Duterte finally meet after diplomatic bust up days ago. According to reports, the two leaders were the last to left the room wherein they exchanged pleasantries and discussions.
While some news stations called it an "awkward moment", most people are still optimist towards the relationship of the two leaders. Positive comments and encouragements are storming in the internet and media.
Even Sen. Pacquiao backs President Duterte, here's what he said during an interview in Beverly Hills:
"My president apologized for what he said," Pacquiao said. "My President sometimes says words that people around him don't like. But I always support my President."
The senator was asked if he supports the president's anti-crime campaign and he affirms it in reply.
"We want to stop all the drugs in the Philippines. We want to stop that. We're taking seriously fighting against illegal drugs. It's easy to say comments about the Philippines. But to be there and fight illegal drugs is not easy," the senator added.
Obama's side announces that the U.S. leader never take the statement of Duterte personally.
