MNLF Rebels Attacks Zamboanga City
MNLF (Moro National Liberation Front) attempted to seize the city hall of Zamboanga City. According to the news, rebels hostage an estimated 20 civilians from Brgy. Sta. Catalina.
According to the mayor, they have not been notified in relation to the entry of almost 400 armed MNLF members that serve as escort's of MNLF chairman Nur Misuari in the area.
Zamboanga local government commands the evacuation of residents in Mariki, Sta. Barbara and Rio Hondo as well as the cancellation of classes throughout the city.
Local government also ordered to arrest all of the armed rebels. According to an initial report two of the Special Action Forces of the Philippine National Police reported dead. They believe that the main target of the MNLF in encroaching Zamboanga City is to declare independence in City Hall.
