At first, I cannot understand the world why a group or an individual would to have to fight for properties and territories where in fact, they can have it fairly if and only if they will set an agreement for it. But as the world become older, people become worse. Rates of murders, greediness, robbery, adultery, bombing and other forms of violence get higher each day. People nowadays were not afraid of violating human law and even the Divine Law. One of the issues that challenge our country, Philippines, was the conflict between China and our country.
We all know that due to abundant resources found in South China Sea/West Philippine Sea, a conflict between nations was formed. It was so disappointing knowing that when we fail to allocate our resources properly, it will result to a great conflict between the opposing parties. China has the power to win what they fight for because they have stronger arm forces compared to us. Even United States cannot simply pull them down for U.S has also gained profits from China, specifically from China's products.
Filipinos were lucky for having UNCLOS who has the authority to address other matters such as sovereignty, rights of usage in maritime zones, and navigational rights. They were a big help to prevent China from claiming those properties which do not belong to them for their history was their only basis and was invalid according to UNCLOS. If the historical claim of China is valid, maybe Mongolia could claim Asia because based also on history, Mongolia once conquered the land of Asia.
It was fearful for the part of the citizens living in South China Sea because while they were busy making their own living, there were also groups who were making interest to the place where they live in. As a Filipino citizen, I cannot deny the fact that for some time in my life, I feel afraid to what might happen next if China continues to insist the territories that they were claiming. China has different culture and we may not know what they can do when they fail to claim some islands and sea water in the South China Sea that belong to us. A war between nations could be expected, right? Chinese were powerful enough to defeat us. Alliance with neighboring countries could help us but it would be better if China and some other claiming countries, including Philippines, would agree to the law implemented by UNCLOS to have fair distribution of the said territories.
