Filipino Crew Died in Accident on World's Biggest Cruise Ship

Tuesday, September 13 - One Filipino crew of The Harmony of the Sea (world's biggest cruise ship) had died and four others were injured after a lifeboat fell in the water while the cruise liner was docked at Marseille, France. The boat was hanged from the fifth deck with the five crew members on board when it detatched and fell 10 meters into the water during a training exercise.

According to the report, the accident killed the 42 years old crew from Philippines and another three crew from the same country were injured while the fourth was Indian.Two of the injured men were in a critical condition in Marseille Nord Hospital and the other two were treated of their multiple injuries according to Julien Ruas, Deputy Mayor of Marseille.

The French police conduct investigation to the cause of cables' sudden break attaching the boat to the deck where it is held.

Here's what the Royal Carribean said:
“We regret the sad death of a crew member of the Harmony of the Seas that happened this morning during a rescue exercise in the port of Marseille. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and other members of our crew.”

The Harmony of the Seas is a 120,000-tonne liner operated by Royal Caribbean, based in Florida. This cruise ship has five times the volume of the Titanic. It has 16 decks and can carry nearly 6,400 passengers and 2,400 crew. It had sailed to Marseille from Palma, in Majorca.
